According to eIDAS regulation that entered into force on the 1st of July 2016, e-signatures are divided into advanced and qualified. Both types of signatures must meet the requirements of the regulation. A qualified electronic signature is essentially an advanced signature, but it is created using a qualified electronic signature creation device and is certified by a qualified e-signature certificate.
